Introduction

Develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed for a career in welding and fabrication. You’ll learn how to join, cut and shape metal using industry-standard techniques and equipment, including MIG, TIG and arc welding, while building the confidence to progress into employment, an apprenticeship or further study. Alongside your main course, you will also develop a broad understanding of clean energy technologies, providing valuable insight into the rapidly evolving low-carbon sector. This includes an introduction to carbon capture technologies, hydrogen awareness, hydrogen refuelling systems, and the principles of electrolysis, helping you build a strong foundation in the key technologies driving the transition towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

What will you do

On our welding course you will develop theoretical knowledge in health & safety, basic power tools/ hand tools, welding and mechanical principles and engineering maths. Alongside practical training in different engineering industry disciplines including design, metal cutting, metal inert gas (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG), manual metal arc (MMA), welding techniques, non-destructive testing (NDT) and destruction testing techniques (DT).

What's next

Progression on to a higher level engineering qualification which could then lead onto an engineering apprenticeship.
